Presumably due to illiteracy, there was a lack of consistency in spelling.

NICKLEN There were NICKLENs at Alderholt chapelry of Cranborne in Dorset from about 1693. James born. 1695 had three sons 1719-1722
NICKLENs appear in Hampshire from 1780
NICKLAND (in Dorset & Hampshire) appeared at Fordingbridge in 1742, Cranborne in 1768.
4XG-GPs James & Esther baptised 3XG-GF Henry at Sopley 1782, and that Henry baptised children at Sopley 1806-19 plus a son at Ripley Chapel 1823.

John 1783 married Betty BILES at Harbridge in 1804 (HGS), no known issue. Henry 1791 md. Elizabeth ?	James baptised James 1801 & 4 other children at Milford 1801-09 (PR seen), no known survivors. Thomas baptised sons James 1800, Henry 1811, & Charles 1814 at Milford (census)

NECKLIN 1851.	Henry's son John 1811 Ringwood -1852 unmarried, no issue	James 1800 had 10 children at Lymington. Henry had 7 children at Milford. Charles had 2 children at Milford.
